ALBANY — Albany Police Department spokesperson Phyllis Banks said Wednesday the APD made two arrests in an aggravated assault and forcible robbery of an automobile which occurred Saturday on Heard Avenue.
Jacorie Antonio Mobley, 19 and Curel Devanti Tarpley, 21, were arrested on Tuesday and each charged with aggravated assault by firearm and armed robbery. Both are currently being held in the Dougherty County jail.
According to police reports, officers responded to 436 Heard Avenue Apt. A in regard to an armed robbery. On the way to the call, dispatch advised a red Chrysler 200 had also been stolen during the robbery. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim, Ronald Mormon, who said he had been robbed by two black males wearing all black.
Mormon said the two black males hit him on the left side of the face with a 9mm type handgun. Mormon stated he arrived there in his mother’s Chrysler 200, to meet a woman who he said contacted him via text message and summoned him prior to the robbery.
Mormon said he drove to Heard Avenue and pulled into the driveway. As he got out of the vehicle and began to walk towards the residence, Mormon said two black males dressed in all black ran out from the east side of house. Mormon said one of the males struck him on the left side of the head with a handgun.
Mormon told police he became dizzy, and the males began reaching into his pockets. Mormon said they managed to get the car keys out of his pocket, got into his vehicle and drove off.
Mormon had swelling to the left side of his forehead, but he refused treatment.
While on the scene, units were dispatched to 1801 W. Gordon Ave. in reference to an armed robbery at Neighborhood Grocery. Officers responding to the armed robbery located Mormon’s vehicle parked at Dellwood Park.
