Albany Police Department responds to man shot multiple times
A man was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Thursday afternoon

ALBANY — On Thursday, the Albany Police Department responded to 1104 Newton Road, the site of Brother’s Convenience Store, at 2:16 pm to a report of a 23-year-old man being shot multiple times.
Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said Elijha Brown was shot in the lower right back and right buttock, an initial investigation into the incident Thursday afternoon revealed. The victim reported he was walking east in the 600 block of Dorsett Avenue toward Newton Road when an unknown heavy set black man shot him twice with a handgun.
Brown stated he ran to the store, and after making it to the business, the victim asked the clerk to call 911, Banks said.
Banks said the victim was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Further information regarding his condition or the investigation was not known by presstime on Thursday.
