ALBANY — The Albany Police Department said Thursday that warrants for armed robbery and aggravated assault had been issued in a reported Luxury Inn home invasion.
Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for the APD, said warrants have been issued against Jeremy Robert Russell, 35, in connection with the home invasion that occurred at the hotel at 201 Thornton Drive on Tuesday. Russell is described as being about 6-feet tall and weighing around 180 pounds, and his last known address is 768 Graves Springs Road in Leesburg, Banks said.
Banks said Russell is also known to frequent hotels in Albany. Detectives also need help locating the man who was with Russell at the time of the robbery. There is very little regarding the second suspect, but he is described as a white man with with a heavyset build between 20-30 years of age and about 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-1 in height.
The initial report of the incident said the victims reported that a man known to them and another man they did not know forced their way into their room shortly after 2 a.m., demanding pills at gunpoint. A struggle took place, causing the handgun to fire. The victims said that the suspects then fled the scene with a black bag containing a TV antenna.
