ALBANY — Albany officials say commuting just got a little easier in the city with the introduction of the app RouteShout 2.0, which gives the location of Transit buses in real time.
City officials say the timing of the app rollout is opportune, as Transit prepares to incorporate “Ram Rush” routes between Albany State University’s east campus on Radium Springs Road and the university’s west campus on Gillionville Road into its daily commute schedule.
Any Albany State student with a valid ID will be allowed to ride any Albany Transit bus route.
“The Albany Transit Department has a number of new and exciting transit initiatives,” Tennasha Gresham, city customer service manager/Transit planner said in a statement that was released by the city. “One of our most recent projects is RouteShout 2.0, the new transit mobile app going live. This tool can be downloaded from the user’s mobile app store. It will allow us to provide a higher level of customer service and provide real time information on all transit bus routes.
“I had the pleasure of participating in ASU’s new student orientation this week. The city of Albany recently entered a contract with the university to assist in transporting students between (east and west) campuses. While introducing the new ‘Ram Rush’ service, I had an opportunity to promote and educate students and parents on our new transit mobile app.”
The app also will allow riders to set favorites and receive notifications on their smartphones.
Anyone seeking further information on the RouteShout 2.0 app, the Ram Rush program or any other Transit activity may contact Gresham at (229) 446-2704.
