ALBANY — Officials with Albany Utilities said Tuesday evening they were dealing with numerous power outages in the city.

Officials said three areas were experiencing power interruptions around 7:30 p.m.:

— Seventh Avenue to 11th Avenue;

— North Cleveland Street;

— The Lake Park area.

The power outage at Lake Park was caused by a large tree falling across a three-phase line, utility officials said.

Thunderstorms were in the area from around 4 p.m. until a little before 7 p.m. Nearly an inch of rain was recorded at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Utility crews were out working to restore power and the utility’s phone center was getting inundated by calls, officials said. They also asked that people avoid the affected areas so crews can safely restore power.
