ALBANY — Samantha Michelle Powell, 41, was charged with aggravated assault against a person 65 years or older and aggravated battery for attacking an elderly man with a shoe.

Albany Police Department officers responded to a call on the 300 block of Southwood Drive around 4:13 a.m. Thursday morning. The victim, 82-year-old Andrew Belk, advised officers that Powell hit him in the face with a shoe several times. According to an APD release, the victim’s eyes were severely swollen.

Warrants were issues for Powell’s arrest, and she was booked into the Dougherty County Jail around 6:30 a.m Thursday.

It is unknown at this time the relationship between Powell and Belk, but the incident did occur inside the home.
