From Staff Reports
ALBANY – Bobby Ellis has been appointed as director of marketing and public relations at Albany Technical College, the institution announced Monday.
Prior to joining ATC, Ellis served as president and owner of The Image Company in Americus. Having been the owner of a marketing company for more than 17 years, he brings talents such as videography, photography, graphic design, client relations and drone piloting to Albany Tech.
Ellis holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and marketing from the University of Georgia, as well as an FAA small unmanned aircraft systems pilot certification, for which he has more than four years of pilot experience.
In 1991, Ellis began his work in the marketing and public relations field as the production manager for local television station WFXL. In 1995, he transitioned to another local TV station, WALB, for two years before he assumed the position of production manager for Miller Marketing. During his tenure, he handled creative services and managed full campaigns for television, radio and print media.
Ellis served on the Americus-Sumter Arts Council as vice president from 2013-2015 and as president from 2015- 2016. He also is a current member of the Kiwanis Club of Americus and served as a board member of that organization from 2015-2016.
“This felt like an excellent opportunity to work with a great group of people,” Ellis said. “I grew up in Albany and went to Monroe High School right down the road, so this is a homecoming of sorts for me. I look forward to telling the stories that matter at Albany Technical College and providing strong marketing direction to help grow the college.”
Ellis will assume his new position on Tuesday.
