ALBANY — The Albany Police Department wants to assure the public that it is both aware and concerned about several person-on-person robberies that have occurred across all areas of the city within a two-week period.

All of the incidents remain under investigation and Robbery/Homicide detectives are working to develop solid suspect information, according to officials.

“After reviewing the cases, we know that the suspects are traveling in small groups on foot,” said APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks. “They are targeting individuals walking alone and demanding money or anything of value. In some cases, victims have been injured and have required hospital treatment.”

Officials advise that citizens should not walk alone, should not carry large amounts of cash or valuables on their person, and should always remain alert and aware of surroundings.

Anyone with information about the robberies as asked to call Crime Stoppers at (22) 436-TIPS or contact detectives directly at (229) 431-3288.
