ALBANY — The Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy (4C Academy) dedicated its fully renovated $13 million edifice late Thursday afternoon. The building had been functioning at half capacity during Phase II renovations to the former Soutside Middle School. More than 400 ninth and tenth graders will be added to its roster in August at the start of the 2018-19 school year, giving the academy its first full cohort of around 900 students. Conyers daughter, Devetrice D. Conyers, represented the family at the formal dedication. Her father, a long-time proponent of education in Albany, passed away in 1986 at the age of 84. 4C Academy CEO Chris Hatcher, pictured above, was among the dignitaries delivering remarks.
