ADEL — The Georgia Health Care Association and Alliant Quality, the Medicare Quality Innovation Network — Quality Improvement Organization for Georgia and North Carolina, recently recognized Cook Senior Living Center for the facility’s commitment to improving the quality of health care for Georgians.

“We are very proud of our dedicated employees and their focus on resident-centered care. Cook Senior Living Center is committed to delivering the highest quality service,” Michael Purvis, administrator of the center and CEO for Cook Medical Center, said.

The Georgia Health Care Association, along with Alliant Quality, present the Georgia Quality Awards each year to select Georgia skilled nursing care centers. Winners of this award have signed the Quality First Pledge, enrolled in the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Home campaign, must be actively participating in the Georgia Quality Improvement Program and comply with program standards.

“Cook Senior Living Center is truly committed to improving the quality of care for Georgians,” QIN-QIO Executive Director Linda Kluge said. “By working to improve quality, Cook Senior Living Center improved residents’ lives and helped to reduce health care costs.”

Officials said facilities are judged on results of state surveys, Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services quality measures, and performance on internal quality improvement projects. Quality of care measures for all nursing homes are tracked and reported on the CMS’s Nursing Home Compare website.

“The outstanding centers presented with the 2017 Georgia Quality Award have greatly demonstrated their willingness to go above and beyond to reach operational and clinical excellence through hard work and performance improvement achievements,” GHCA President and CEO Tony Marshall said. “On behalf of the entire GHCA membership, I thank them for their commitment to providing high-quality care to the vulnerable individuals they serve. We are proud of Cook Senior Living Center and pleased to be able to recognize them for their work that helps the people of Cook County and surrounding areas.”

Alliant Quality is a not-for-profit, physician-sponsored organization dedicated to improving health care. In operation since 1970, Alliant Quality provides health care solutions focused on quality improvement, utilization management, medical review and health care outcomes research.
