TIFTON — Time’s running out for peanut farming shutterbugs who would like to see their photo included on the 2018 Georgia Peanut Calendar.

The Photos from the Field contest for submissions, which started June 7, wraps up Sunday. Submissions must have been taken in the 2016 or 2017 growing seasons.

The Georgia Peanut Commission is hosting the contest. The photos will be used for the 2018 calendar, as well as various promotional projects conducted throughout the year by the commission. Peanut farmers from across the state are being encouraged to submit their best high-resolution photo (300 dpi) of peanut production on their farm.

Winning entries will be selected for each month of the calendar, as well as the cover page. Submissions will also be entered for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.

The commission offers tips for farmer/photographers:

— Make sure the photo is not offensive, and avoid photos with large, easily read corporate logos;

— Think about the months of the year and select photos that represent them, such as land preparation in the winter, spring planting, summer irrigation, and harvest in the fall;

— Make sure photos are taken horizontally; vertical photos may not be suitable for the pages;

— Select a photo that showcases your family or what being a Georgia peanut farmer means to you;

— Choose a photo that you feel helps others understand more about how you care for the crop.

Photos cannot have been taken with a phone. Photos that do not meet the contest requirements may be disqualified. Photos should be saved in a jpg format and emailed with an entry form to [email protected] by Sunday.
