Dougherty County ‘Peanutrition’ contest winners announced
4-H students create unique recipes

ALBANY — Dougherty County 4-H recently hosted a “Peanutrition” contest sponsored by the Georgia Peanut Commission.
During the contest, 4-H members in grades 5-7 brought in recipes that use peanuts or a peanut products as the main ingredient. The contest is a bi-annual event sponsored by Clover Leaf and the Junior 4-H Food and Nutrition Activity Program.
Younger 4-H members submitted a recipe for their favorite peanut butter sandwich. Recipes were judged on nutrition, appeal, creativity, recipe presentation, recipe content and appropriateness for the category.
Junior 4-Hers were required to submit a recipe of their favorite uncooked snack containing a peanut product. The recipe was required to yield one cup and was to include a minimum of either 1/4-cup of peanuts (any kind: raw, roasted, salted, dry roasted, chopped or ground), or two teaspoons of peanut butter or other peanut products. Recipes were judges on nutrition, appeal, creativity, recipe presentation and appropriateness for category.
Dougherty County competition winners were Corey Stubbs for Most Nutritional; Reagan Wesley for Most Appealing; Addie Hemmings for Most Creative; Daniel Ausby for Best Recipe Presentation, and Jeremy Charles for Best Recipe Contents.
Montreal Fletcher received Best Overall for the Cloverleaf division, and Malachi Wright received Best Overall for the Junior division. Dougherty County Senior 4-H members judged the recipes, scoring them on taste, appearance and presentation. Members who helped judge were Skyler Middleton, Dianah Anderson, Tandria Burke, Sherrmitria Garrett, Kiana Wright, Shelise Byrd and Savannah Anderson.
County winners will receive T-shirts and the opportunity to showcase and share their recipes with fellow students.
