ALBANY — The Albany Police Department is searching for four suspects in connection to several entering-auto incidents that occurred early Wednesday on Chippington Court.

According to reports, the incidents occurred between 3:15 a.m. and 4 a.m.

Police are on the lookout for Rico Roberts, a 17-year-old black male, and three other unknown black males, an APD news release indicated.

“Officers responded to the 600 block of Chippington Court in reference to an entering-auto incident in progress with gunshots being fired,” the incident report said. “Upon arrival on the scene, contact was made with victim Milton Knighton. He (Knighton) reported that when he arrived at his residence, he noticed two unknown black males inside his white Nissan Maxima.”

According to the report, Knighton confronted the suspects and they fled.

“He (Knighton) confronted them and they ran away,” the report said. “He (Knighton) observed them to get into a dark colored Chevrolet Trailblazer and speed away. He followed behind and observed the suspects wreck on the 700 block of Drexel Street.”

Assisting officers responded to the scene of the wreck and located the suspects’ vehicle.

“Witnesses reported that the suspects jumped out of the vehicle carrying one of the suspects that was injured and fled the scene,” the report said. “Assisting officers canvased the area and were unable to locate the suspects.”

According APD officials, dispatch conducted a check of local hospitals, which reported having no patients suffering from the described injuries.

Further information/clarification about the possible shooting that occurred in correlation with the entering-auto incidents was requested, but APD officials only said, “The suspect listed in the release (Rico Roberts) is possibly wounded, and the shooter is unknown at this time.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or Crimestoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
