Lowe’s Home Improvement locations serving as bases for FEMA rebuilding specialists

AMERICUS — Those who are repairing or rebuilding damaged property following Hurricane Michael, have questions about flood insurance or want to protect their property from potential loss or damage from future disasters can stop by two locations in Americus and Thomasville for assistance.
Rebuilding specialists from FEMA are ready to provide tips and advice on making homes stronger and safer, and answer questions about protecting homes from future damage, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Saturday at Lowe’s Home Improvement, located at 13911 U.S. Highway 19 South in Thomasville.
A similar event is also taking place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Saturday at the Lowe located at 1700 E. Lamar St. in Americus.
Officials with FEMA said homeowners and businesses can get free information flyers, in English and Spanish, on cost-effective rebuilding and repair techniques to make homes more resistant to natural disasters. While there, individuals can also speak with FEMA disaster survivor assistance specialists about individual recovery.
These specialists will also be able to check the application status of storm victims who registered with FEMA.
