ALBANY — H.E.R.O.’s Instillment Academy has announced a special program aimed at providing a nontraditional approach to after-school enrichment activities for children.
Identifying children’s needs and providing them with specialized enrichment, workshops and tutoring, combined with a safe haven, provides the academy a unique niche among after-school programs. The focus is to motivate, inspire and educate children to become products of success, not society. The academy is constantly looking for effective and creative ways to inspire children.
Providing children opportunities to voice their concerns, talk about daily problems and openly express themselves is an important mission of the organization.
H.E.R.O.’s Instillment Academy launched in August of 2015 at 431 Jefferies Ave. Services are geared toward boys and girls ages 4-12. The academy is open Monday-Friday, from 2:30-7 p.m., and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. during summer break and camps.
Themes change weekly and focus on self-esteem, character-building, interpersonal skills and goal-setting, just to name a few.
The academy is designed to help everyone reach opportunities, regardless of background or social status. The organization looks to motivate children to become the next community leader, president or philanthropist, says Headmaster Tommie Terrell.
