ALBANY — Harveys Supermarket is expected to present a donation of produce and shelf-stable products valued at $25,000 this morning to Albany citizens in need this morning.

The community mobile pantry event is part of Harveys Supermarket parent company Southeastern Grocers, Inc.’s Holiday Relief Program in partnership with the city of Albany to fight against hunger.

Harveys associates, the Albany Police Department and volunteers will distribute the donated produce and shelf-stable products to 500 families in need — specifically families in the Albany Housing Authority areas impacted by the closing of the Harveys location on West Gordon Avenue following Hurricane Michael.

Funds are raised in stores to provide food for families in need during the holiday season. The donations will be provided to the select families 8:30-11 a.m. at the Albany Civic Center, located at 100 W. Oglethorpe Blvd.
