ALBANY — The Junior League of Albany is hosting its annual spring fundraiser, Dueling Pianos, on March 9 at Doublegate Country Club to raise funds for two charitable organizations.

The event is a fundraiser for the Junior League of Albany’s signature project, the domestic violence resource center Liberty House, and Children’s Miracle Network.

“Every three years, we select a signature project we want to support, and we chose Liberty House, with the remainder going to Children’s Miracle Network,” Becca Miller, Junior League member and marketing representative for the event, said. “Liberty House is building a new shelter, and we are so excited about that.”

The doors to Dueling Pianos will open at 7 p.m. In addition to entertainment, the event will feature cocktail attire with heavy hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and a cash bar.

The Andrews Brothers of Atlanta will provide the entertainment, combining unparalleled musical talent with side-splitting humor, ensuring a great time.

“There will be two guys on pianos battling themselves,” Miller said. “This is their second time appearing.”

Guests can request songs, and the Andrews Brothers, as they know more than 1,500 popular songs, will play the requests. The silent auction includes more than 50 items, including gift packages from various businesses and organizations.

The event raised $17,000 last year. Miller said coordinators want to surpass that mark this year.

“People really look forward to coming out and seeing the format of the fundraiser,” Miller said. “It is usually a packed house, so we are very excited.”

Liberty House works toward the elimination of domestic violence in the Albany area by providing emergency shelter, advocacy education, awareness, community resources and collaboration to ensure all victims are empowered to achieve self-sufficiency.

“Domestic violence and domestic abuse are very common but not talked about,” Miller said.

Children’s Miracle Network provides funding for specialized equipment, education and programs benefiting babies in the neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric patients treated at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The charities are expected to utilize funds to help the populations they serve.

By far, the majority of CMN funds go to the NICU.

“People really get behind it,” Miller, who is also the CMN coordinator for Phoebe, said.
