ALBANY — Albany Police Department officials reported a pair of vehicle thefts — one an “inside job” — and a burglary incident in a synopsis of overnight cases forwarded to news media Wednesday morning.

Among the cases reported were burglary and entering auto incidents and two vehicle theft calls.

At 10:42 p.m., the department received a call from Roger Lee Jones at 408 Heard Ave., Apartment A, in reference to a burglary of his residence. Jones told police while he made a trip to a local store, an unknown person broke the pane of a window in his residence and entered his apartment.

Once inside, the burglars took a pair of Nike Air Max shoes valued at $125 and toiletry items.

The APD release said there are no suspects at this time.

Just past 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, Robert Price notified APD that a Stihl chainsaw and a weedeater manufactured by the same company had been taken from his 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. Price said he’d left the vehicle’s doors unlocked and the thief entered the truck through the rear door on the driver’s side.

Price told reporting officers that, at approximately 3:10 a.m., he heard his vehicle’s alarm going off. Price said that when he looked out his door, he observed an older model, grey four-door sedan driving west on Jefferies Ave. Price looked in his vehicle and noticed that the tools were missing.

Police said the vehicle was not processed due to weather conditions at the time. There are no known suspects at this time.

Michael Edwards with BAM Property Management told police a brazen thief drove off with his white 2015 GMC Sierra C1500 while he was purchasing gas at 2401 Brierwood Drive Tuesday night between 6 and 6:13 p.m. Video footage at the location showed that while Edwards entered the store, an unidentified subject in a grey hoodie entered the vehicle and drove off.

Edwards said he left the keys in his vehicle while he entered the store.

Tyre Williams said her 2010 silver Ford Fusion was stolen from her home at 126 Whittlesey Court between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Tuesday night, but it turned out the “burglary” was an “inside job.”

Williams said that when she went to bed at 10:30 p.m., the vehicle was at the residence. When her husband woke up some 30 minutes later, the vehicle was gone. APD officers responded to the scene, where they saw Tyre’s juvenile son return the vehicle and enter the family’s residence.

The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the LEC and turned over to investigations.
