CAMILLA —Kevin Cloud has been named headmaster of Westwood Schools in Camilla for the 2018-19 school year.
The school’s Board of Trustees announced the decision Thursday. Cloud is to begin his duties June 1.
A native of Albany, Cloud has served as an administrator, teacher and coach in independent education for 21 years. Previously, he held positions at Deerfield-Windsor School, Augusta Preparatory Day School and Sherwood Christian Academy.
Cloud holds degrees from Valdosta State University, Baylor University and a M.Ed. in administration and supervision from Liberty University.
Board Chairman Laura Beth Tucker announced a search committee comprised of parents, retired teachers, community leaders and board members conducted an extensive search and narrowed the field of 17 qualified candidates to interview the top three candidates.
“Mr. Cloud received the unanimous recommendation from the search committee to the Board of Trustees to extend an offer to him based upon his outstanding performance in independent school administration,” she said. “He is an experienced administrator who has a record of developing a team of engaged and qualified faculty and fostering a positive educational and social environment for students.
“His experience and commitment to educational leadership will be an asset to Westwood in providing a high quality, college preparatory education for our students.”
