ALBANY — An Albany Man was stabbed in the shoulder outside the Luxury Inn Motel late Monday night, according to the Albany Police Department.

Reports indicate that the incident took place in the parking lot of the motel, located at 201 Thornton Drive, around 11:30 p.m.

According to police, the victim, Trieu Minh Tran, 24, was returning to a room with a friend at the east Albany motel when he was approached by an unknown assailant in the parking lot who demanded money. When Tran refused, he was stabbed in the shoulder.

“Witnesses stated that the suspect stabbed the victim in the shoulder,” APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said. “The victim stated that the suspect approached him and demanded he give him all of his money, and when he refused that suspect stabbed him. The victim stated that he drove himself to Phoebe Putney (Memorial Hospital’s) main emergency room and was admitted.”

After stabbing Tran in the shoulder, the suspect fled the scene, according to reports.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a 6-foot-2 black male with dreadlocks, a medium complexion and wearing a green jersey.
