MCLB-ALBANY — The annual Buddy Fishing Tournament that takes place at Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany is scheduled for June 4 at the base’s Covella Pond.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is set from 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. It is for children ages 15 and younger accompanied by an adult.

No fishing license is required for this event. The children get to keep all the fish they catch, but they are expected to do all the fishing, MCLB-Albany officials said.

Visitors without normal base access will be required to provide identification at the main gate. All guests are encouraged to arrive early for proper processing and are reminded not to bring weapons of any kind, and to refrain from bringing drugs or alcohol. All fishing equipment such as coolers and tackle boxes will be searched.

Proper identification for those driving a vehicle will include a valid driver’s license, registration and insurance, MCLB officials said.

Trophies will be awarded to both boys and girls for the biggest fish caught and for the most fish caught, following the event.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. the day of the event. For more information, call (229) 639-5479.
