ALBANY — An Albany mother charged with concealing the death of her child had her first appearance in court Wednesday when we she went before Dougherty County Magistrate Judge Baxter Howell.

Clarion Garrison, 28, is currently charged with concealing the death of another, a felony, and a probation violation, both stemming from her role in an incident that occurred at an East Albany apartment two weeks ago.

On March 9, the body of Garrison’s two-year-old daughter, Nyelle Garrison, was found hidden inside an apartment on Don Butler Sr. Drive and Garrison was subsequently arrested in Marion County, Florida where she had fled with her three other children.

At Wednesday’s first appearance hearing Howell advised Garrison of the charges and gave her instructions on how to obtain an attorney.

According to officials with the Dougherty County District Attorney’s office, there was no record that Garrison had yet retained an attorney and no bond had been set for the charges.

Garrison is being held at the Dougherty County Jail and officials are still investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the toddler’s death.
