ALBANY — The Albany Police Department is reaching out to the public for help with several incidents that have occurred during the past few days, including multiple burglaries on North Washington Street and a stolen car on Silica Drive.
“Three burglaries have occurred at 503-505 North Washington St. (Pollock Heating and Cooling) within the last few days,” APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said. “Detectives need the public’s assistance identifying the suspects.”
According to reports, three different burglaries have occurred at Pollock, including incidents on Thursday night, Friday night and Monday night.
More than $2,000 worth of aluminum air conditioning coils were stolen. Bolt cutters were recovered at the scene, and the suspect was caught on surveillance video.
Reports indicate the suspect to be a black male, approximately 6 feet to 6-foot-4 in height and weighing approximately 225 to 250 pounds.
APD is investigating another incident that occurred on Silica Drive during which a new Cadillac CTS was stolen at gunpoint on Nov. 14.
“Detectives need the public’s assistance with locating a white Cadillac CTS stolen while being delivered to an auction,” Banks said. “The suspects may not have gotten far because the vehicle was low on gas.”
According to reports, the car was bound for an auction and was being unloaded from a truck at 1407 Silica Drive.
“I responded in emergency mode to 1407 Silica Drive,” APD officer Joshua Villa wrote in his report of the incident. “Upon arrival, I made contact with David Giles and Eddie Akins, who were delivering vehicles to be auctioned. Akins advised that two young-looking black males approached him and asked if he had $1. He said no, and they then approached Giles. Giles was sitting inside of a white Cadillac CTS while he was attempting to remove it from the back of the trailer. At this time, the subjects produced a shiny revolver, pointed it at him, and told Giles to get out.”
Reports indicate Giles complied, and the suspects drove north on Cason Street in the stolen vehicle.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
