LEESBURG — Several appointments were made for open positions on a variety of community and government boards during the most recent Lee County Commission meeting.

“In most cases, the people who applied to fill the positions were already serving on the boards and were reappointed to serve for another term,” Lee County Co-Manager Christi Dockery said.

New appointments included:

— Bobby Donley and Greg Crowder were re-appointed to the Joint Development Authority for a term of two years. Their current term is set to expire on Dec. 31. In a letter dated Nov. 15, Winston Oxford, who serves as executive director of the Lee County Development Authority, petitioned county commissioners to reappoint both Donley, who currently serves as vice chairman of the board, and Crowder, who currently serves as chairman. The Joint Development Authority is made up of representatives from Lee, Dougherty, Baker and Terrell Counties.

— Two members were also reappointed to the Lee County Recreation and Parks Authority. Both Tim Holley and Dave Clearman, whose current terms expire on Dec. 31will remain on the board for another year. In addition to Holley and Clearman, Jacob Baker also submitted a letter of interest.

— Lee Commissioners also agreed to reappoint Glenda Battle to serve on the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission as a private sector representative. Chad Griffin also was reappointed to represent the public sector on Regional commission. His appointment has been approved by the county, the city of Leesburg and the city of Smithville. Also representing Smithville is Dwight Hickman. Each of their current terms was set to expire on Jan. 1.

“The Southwest Georgia Regional Commission Council is made up of representatives from 14 counties,” Dockery said.

Lee County Commission Chairman Dennis Roland also serves on this board by virtue of his office.
