LEESBURG — Lee County drivers who typically use Oakland Road might to take an alternative route Wednesday as a portion of the road will be temporarily closed to allow Oxford Construction Company to begin resurfacing of the major county artery.

The Lee County Board of Commissioners issued a notice today letting drivers know that the portion of Oakland Road from James Pond Road to Quail Valley and Quail Pines roads will be closed until Thursday morning. The notice asks that impacted drivers use Armena or Ledo roads as alternate routes.

Although the road will only be closed for one day, construction on the thoroughfare is expected to continue until Aug. 5.
