Pedestrian Desmond Holmes hit by two cars
Police report hit-and-run on South Slappey Boulevard

ALBANY — An Albany man was struck by two cars while walking on Slappey Boulevard late Saturday evening, according to the Albany Police Department.
Reports indicate that Desmond Holmes, 29, had been drinking alcoholic beverages at an unknown address on West Gordon Avenue, after which he attempted to cross South Slappey Boulevard near West Lincoln Avenue.
A southbound vehicle , described as a gold sedan, hit Holmes and spun him around in the road. According to reports, the driver, a black male, yelled at Holmes for being in the road and continued driving south, leaving the scene.
A second vehicle, described as a 2016 Kia Forte driven by 27-year-old Hope Anderson of Albany, struck Holmes with its front bumper, reports stated. Holmes impacted the hood and windshield of the Kia before being thrown several feet south and landing in the roadway. The second vehicle stopped at the scene. Holmes received serious injuries and was transported to the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Emergency Center, where he was admitted.
The incident remains under investigation with the APD Traffic Unit.
