Phoebe Cancer Center lauded by American College of Surgeons

ALBANY — Phoebe Cancer Center has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons as a Surgical Quality Partner.
“This recognition is a testament to our dedication to consistently provide the highest quality care to our patients,” Dr. Troy Kimsey, surgical oncologist and the medical director of Oncology at the Phoebe Cancer Center, said in a news release.
Being a Surgical Quality Partner signifies an institution’s dedication to consistently improving procedures and approaches, while maintaining a critical eye on the process at every step. It demonstrates Phoebe Cancer Center’s commitment to quality of care and dedication to cancer prevention.
“As a Surgical Quality Partner, we adhere to the most rigorous standards in surgical quality and ensure that our providers and staff are committed to maintaining, evaluating and continuously improving surgical care,” Kimsey said.
The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and education organization of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to raise the standards of surgical practice and improve the quality of care for all surgical patients. The college is dedicated to the ethical and competent practices of surgery. Its achievements have significantly influenced the course of scientific surgery in the U.S. and have established it as an important advocate for all surgical patients.
The Phoebe Cancer Center is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and offers patients in southwest Georgia the opportunity to stay close to home while receiving the most advanced cancer treatments — from radiation and chemotherapy to stem cell apheresis and clinical trials.
