ALBANY — A recent presentation before the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Board of Directors offered a look at Phoebe Corporate Health and what it offers.

The Phoebe Corporate Health footprint includes a 15-county service area that served 18,000 patients in Fiscal Year 2018. It serves 911 companies, averaging 1,500 patients per month. The industry sectors served include agri-business, manufacturing, higher education, trucking, municipalities, mining, construction and medical.

The occupational and environmental medicine team at Phoebe Corporate Health consists of medical director Dr. Kevin Smith and clinical nurse manager Maryann Smithwick. The employees’ on-site occupational health services for corporate health include drug screens, vaccinations, physicals, education, ergonomic assessments and workers’ compensation.

On the Phoebe employee health and wellness service arm, biometric screenings, coaching, education, a primary care bridge program for chronic conditions, an on-site acute care clinic and telehealth services are provided. The core services further include tuberculosis testing, CPR certification, an employee assistance program and financial wellness.

Employee wellness includes on-site personalized health service offerings such as flu vaccines, FFA physicals, school bus driver physicals and TB screenings. Employer compliance education is provided from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Transportation and workers’ comp.

Phoebe Corporate Health has a physical therapy clinic providing injury treatment and workers’ comp assessments in southwest Georgia.

“Services now go beyond testing by providing physical therapy services at the new Workers’ Comp Clinic,” a presentation before the hospital board earlier this month, given by Phoebe Putney Health System Operations Vice President Will Peterson, who oversees Phoebe Corporate Health, said.

Physical therapy services include job placement assessment and upper extremity, lower extremity and spine care. The upcoming services will be functional capacity evaluations and impairment ratings.

The clinic is located at Phoebe East, at 2410 Sylvester Road.

Phoebe officials said the clinic has more than 30 years experience in an outpatient setting treating orthopedics, sports and industrial injuries, work hardening/conditioning and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Physical Therapy Association of Georgia.

Phoebe Corporate Health has an occupational bundled service model that offers the opportunity for bundled pricing for specific professions and discounted pricing based on employee population. It opens the opportunity for services to be provided on-site, a new hire program, CPR/first aid training, assistance with truck driver re-certification and a drug screen program.

The individual service model also offers discounted pricing based on employee population and the opportunity for services to be provided on-site — but the pricing is individualized. It includes biometric screening, a hearing test, flu shots, a drug screen program, breath alcohol test, a Department of Transportation physical, post-offer physical, job placement analysis and ergonomics assessment.

Meanwhile, work is being done to equip chambers of commerce and economic development boards with the ability to provide traditional occupational health services, health and wellness services and discounted pricing. The bundled flat-fee model offers a 5 percent discount for up to 25 employees, a 10 percent discount for 26-50 employees and a 15 percent discount for 51 or more employees.

Partnerships have been established with the Sylvester-Worth County and Terrell County chambers of commerce. Partnerships with the Sumter County, Camilla and the Ashburn-Turner County chambers of commerce are pending.

There are upcoming partnership opportunities with the Randolph County, Lee County and Albany Area chambers of commerce.
