Pizza Quick on Slappey robbed

ALBANY — The Albany Police Department reported that the Pizza Quick restaurant located at 908 South Slappey Blvd. was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night around 10 p.m.

The incident was caught on the restaurant’s security surveillance system.

According to restaurant staff members, on the video two individuals could be seen peeking in the rear door. A few moments later, they entered the business, one with a handgun. The suspects proceeded to the front of the restaurant, pointed the gun at the manager and demanded money.

Rick Astran, the manager of Pizza Quick, said, “The back door of the business has to be be slammed to close properly, and I think an employee, a new employee, didn’t know and didn’t close it all the way after taking the trash out.”

The suspects were described as black males, wearing camouflage hoodies, black masks and blue rubber gloves, according to police reports.

“They came in through the back door, and one of them stuck a .45 in my face and demanded money,” said manager Rick Astran. “They took about $377 from the register and the safe, definitely not worth someone’s life. The police arrived about two minutes later. APD eats here all the time; they were shocked.”

After taking the money, the robbers fled the scene. No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made, according to police.

“They were wearing black masks, but one of them had black moles near his eyes and they were wearing blue gloves,” said Astran.
