Preparations underway for Gnat Days
Music, 5K run, car show planned for annual Camilla festival
From Staff Reports
CAMILLA — Officials with the annual Gnat Days Festival are still seeking vendors for this year’s celebration, which is planned May 10-11.
While planning for the annual festival is still under way, already scheduled is the 32nd annual Gnat Days 5K Run and Fun Walk. Festival officials have partnered with Flatlander Sports to run, time and record results of the race. Flatlander will provide double-chipped bibs for maximum efficiency in recording race times and plans to provide a blowup finish line arch and a digital clock display.
Flatlander officials have already set online registration for the run at www.active.com.
At about the time the 5K run is kicking off at 7 p.m. on May 10, the band BonFire will start cranking out dance tunes that will have attendees moving to the music. Concessions will be available, and attendees are invited to bring their lawn chairs and plan on staying until 11 p.m.
The festival starts right back up on May 11, bright and early (8 a.m.), and already planned are a badminton tournament, a live animal display from Chehaw park in Albany, a pet parade, a character dash, face painting and a photo booth. Sunshine Party Rentals will be on hand with an array of inflatables and a cotton candy buffet.
Among the other May 11 festivities, which will continue into Saturday night, are food and drink vendors, arts and crafts booths and a car show sponsored by O’Riley Auto Parts.
Vendor and participation registration forms for the 5K run, pet parade and character dash are available online at www.camillageorgia.com.
