ALBANY — The Albany Police Department responded to an armed robbery over the weekend in which the victim lost his tennis shoes, officials with the APD say.

The incident is reported to have taken place at 801 11th Ave. at 7:37 p.m. on Sunday. Aa 20-year-old man met with officers on Kingstown Court about a robbery.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said the man told police he was walking down the 800 block of 11th Avenue when he was approached by an unknown man. The man reportedly pulled out a pocket knife and demanded money. When the man told the robber he had no money, the robber took his black and gray tennis shoes, police reports said.

The robber was described as wearing a black and red Nike shirt, gray basketball shorts and black and white shoes. There were no visible injuries on the victim, Banks said.

Banks said the case remained active Monday.
