South Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts to hold Character Counts dinner

ALBANY — The South Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America will host its annual Character Counts, Friends of Scouting campaign dinner on April 28, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Hasan Temple in Albany. The dinner will feature Gen. William “Glenn” Webster as the guest speaker.

Webster is a 41-year Army veteran who commanded units in Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and the United States. He is a successful leadership and management coach to both the private sector and the military. As one of the Army’s premier trainers, Webster has coached and taught executive-level leadership to municipal governments, private businesses, charitable organizations, and the leadership of NATO.

For the past three years, Webster has served as one of two senior mentors for the U.S. War College, and he continues to work for the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Webster played football while serving as a cadet. After graduation, he successfully commanded at every level within the Army, from platoon to division and field army.

His operational experiences include assignments with five different Army divisions, two combatant commands, and twice with a field army and land component command forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. He served with distinction until his retirement from active service in 2011.

The Friends of Scouting campaign benefits the twenty-eight counties served by the South Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. While the public is encouraged to attend the Friends of Scouting Dinner, reservations are required in advance no later than April 21st.
