ALBANY — Investigators with the Special Operations Division of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ashley Renee Chafin for outstanding warrants issued in Dougherty County relating to a string of storage building burglaries.
According to officials, Chafin was located Monday afternoon at an address on Oak Drive South in Valdosta, along with Daniel Wade Smith.
During a search of the residence, investigators found a quantity of methamphetamine and prescription medications, Oxycodon, Methadone and Suboxone, along with items believed to have been stolen, reports show.
Chafin and Smith were arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
According to an incident report, Chafin, 26, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and is also being held for Dougherty County. Smith, 27, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule two drugs and possession of schedule three drugs.
Both will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court for an arraignment hearing.
“We will keep working with the other neighboring law enforcement agencies and hopefully return someone’s property that was previously stolen,” Lowndes Sheriff Chris Prine said. Prine also stressed that investigators will continue to examine evidence that may tie this group to other burglaries and thefts in the region.
