ALBANY — Kolean Lawson, 43, turned himself in at the Miami Police Department in connection to the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old reported on Saturday, officials with the Albany Police Department announced Sunday evening.

The APD was continuing the search early Sunday for Lawson in connection to the shooting death of 18-year-old Larry Bernard McCray, who was gunned down on the 1300 block of Whispering Pines Road on Saturday morning, one of two deadly shootings in the city that day.

Police said a murder warrant had been taken out for Lawson, who is charged with shooting McCray to death just before 11 a.m. Saturday while hundreds of runners participated in the annual Snickers Marathon. Police said Lawson could have been with Lacoya Lee, 29, and Tyrell Lawson, 28, and they were thought to have made their way south into Florida.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact APD investigators at (229) 431-2132/2100 or to remain anonymous, call Albany Area CrimeStoppers tipline at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
