ALBANY — A Ford Explorer driven by Quatessia Johnson was flipped onto its side in a wreck at Broad Avenue and Jefferson Street around noontime Thursday.

According to the Albany Police Department, Johnson was attempting to make a left turn off of Jefferson Street onto West Broad Avenue when the SUV was struck by a Chevrolet driven by Candice Harris, 26, who was traveling north on Jefferson.

APD officials said Johnson failed to yield and Harris’ vehicle struck the rear bumper of the Explorer, causing it to overturn.

First responders had to smash the Explorer’s windshield to remove Johnson from the overturned vehicle.

Both drivers were transported to the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital by Dougherty County EMS. No word on injuries was available Thursday.

Johnson was cited for failure to yield while making a turn, APD officials said.
