ALBANY —A teenager was arrested Thursday on a murder charge in the shooting death of John Lewis Jr., who died Sunday.

Albany police say additional arrests are expected.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said in an email Thursday evening that Jarod Hosley, 15, had been arrested earlier in the day and had been booked into the Dougherty County Jail on a murder charge in Lewis’ death following the March 4 shooting.

“Additional arrests are pending,” Banks said. “This case remains under investigation.”

Lewis, 21, was shot around 1:37 p.m. March 4 at Dervan Street and South Jackson Street. Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler said he died Sunday morning. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, Fowler said.

Lewis is Albany’s fourth homicide of the year and the 19th within a 12-month period.
