ALBANY — Two armed men walked into the Subway restaurant on East Oglethorpe Boulevard Tuesday night, brandished a firearm and demanded money, according to officials with the Albany Police Department.
The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and escaped into the night, APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said in an email about the incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the 2215 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. eatery.
“Two unknown black males, one wearing a camouflage hooded jacket, dark pants, white shoes, dark gloves and dark mask, and one wearing a black shirt, grey pants, dark shoes, black face mask, dark gloves with a green drawstring bag entered the business, showed a handgun of an unknown make/model/caliber and demanded money from the employees,” Banks said. “After taking an undetermined amount of cash from the register, the suspects fled the scene on foot.”
The area was canvassed in an attempt to locate the suspects with negative results, according to Banks.
“Last I heard, no one was arrested after a search of the area,” she said. “Officers did review surveillance video after the robbery occurred, and the case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Bureau.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
