Festival offers balloon rides at Veterans State Park

CORDELE — Large crowds gathered Friday and Saturday for the Watermelon Days Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele. Festivalgoers enjoyed live music, food vendors and the majesty of the hot air balloons. The adventurous were offered balloon rides for $10, but the winds were too high Friday to take advantage of the offer. On Saturday, though, the rides were a go.
