CORDELE — indigoLife Communications announced its fourth annual indigoLife Women’s Empowerment and Cultural Expo is set to convene next month.

The event will take place May 17-19 at MD Whitest Conference and Event Center in Cordele, where women across the United States and abroad will gather over the three-day weekend to discuss “sustainable approaches toward relationship building, resource management, wealth creation and the development of compelling personas.”

Officials said the event will commence with opening greetings from elected officials followed by an opening address from Alicia Gwynn of San Diego, who will share her experience of blazing a new trail through her recent debut as a recording artist since the passing of her husband, Tony Gwynn, a Major League Baseball Hall of Famer.

Kim Whitehead, noted patent and trademark attorney, biomedical engineer, five-star rated author and Atlanta’s “Impact” magazine honoree, will serve as keynote speaker on the second day. Whitehead is expected to address the need for mindset shift as a precondition for empowerment.

“This conference agenda shows but a glimpse of what is sure to be one of the most compelling and impactful women’s empowerment events in the South. The cultural showcases from various corners of the world are amazing,” Whitehead said.

Other planned highlights of the expo will be daily panels and interactive breakout sessions from representatives with the IRS, Department of Juvenile Justice, South Florida-based research and management company ICB Productions, AARP, Food and Drug Administration and a number of small business owners.

Visual artists will engage attendees in a number of social projects, which will result in painting collectives to be presented to four different women’s centers across Georgia. Wendy Wilson, executive director of Albany State University’s Cordele Center, will serve as one of the facilitators for the event.

“Empowerment, either personal or professional, should be a constant in our lives. I’m excited about having the opportunity to engage with other like-minded women, learning and sharing the methods they employ to further develop and empower themselves as great women,” Wilson said.

A number of socials will convene during the weekend, including a Friday-night open-air concert featuring Gwynn. On Saturday morning, the indigoLife Golf Classic will take place at Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, the weekend activities will conclude with the indigoLife Gala honoring individuals throughout middle and south Georgia, and beyond, who inspire social and economic advancement within sectors of business, government, the faith-based community and education, as well as the arts.

The evening will close with a concert, featuring vocal performer Ingrid Arthur from Berlin, Germany, and violinist and Charleston, S.C., native Daniel Davis.
