ALBANY – In order to connect southwest Georgia residents with career opportunities throughout the region, the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission is joining forces with the Flint River Entertainment Complex, the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau to lead a regional career placement initiative by hosting the Southwest Georgia Regional Job Fair on April 4 at the Albany Civic Center from 4-7 p.m.

Veterans are offered early access to the job fair at 3 p.m.

The job fair will feature regional employers seeking candidates for current job vacancies. Employer booths are $100 for a 10×10 booth, which includes a table, two chairs, and piping and draping. For an additional $25, employers can purchase a power connection, and for an additional $10 employers can purchase extra chairs for their booth. All employers interested in participating can register at 2024 SWGA Regional Job Fair Registration on Eventbrite. Registration closes on April 2.

Southwest Georgia is full of qualified, hard-working individuals looking to take the next steps in their careers.

“With our new and expanding industries, we have several employers with available positions across a variety of industries,” ADEDC President and CEO Jana Dyke said in a news release. “In order to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, we are coming together with our local and regional partners to offer this job-placement event for our region.”

Job-seekers attending the event will get an opportunity to speak with prospective employers in the financial services, health care, hospitality, nonprofit, government, and manufacturing sectors, to name only a few.

Individuals attending the fair in hopes of securing employment should come professionally dressed with printed copies of a current resume and be prepared for on-site interviews. The event is free to attendees, and registration is not required. Southern Point Staffing will be onsite from 2-5 p.m. offering free resume assistance.

In addition to local partners, the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission is working with 13 surrounding counties to include their employers and prospective job-seekers to make this event successful not only for Dougherty County but southwest Georgia as a whole.
