Jimmy Carter teaching Sunday School this week in Plains

Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday School this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. The lesson begins at 10 a.m., but the sanctuary doors open at 8:30 a.m. An orientation session for visitors begins at 9 a.m.
EVENTS
Liberty Parkway Church of God will conduct homecoming services at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The event will feature preaching, food on the grounds and gospel singing. The church is located at Palmyra Road and Schley Avenue.
Second Shiloh Baptist Church of Bronwood will celebrate its 164th anniversary at 11 a.m. on Sunday with a message from the Rev. Albert L. Bob III.
Jones Chapel AME Church, 317 W. Railroad St., Sylvester, will celebrate Women’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Dr. Katherine Williams from Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Ty Ty.
Sasser Gospel Fest will be conducted from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at Sasser Pavilion next to the water tower. The free outdoor event will feature local groups and choirs and performances by Mercy’s Bridge and the Stone Family. Those attending should bring their lawn chairs. The event is sponsored by Agape Christian and Baptist and Methodist churches in Sasser.
Gray Chapel CME Church will celebrate its 90th anniversary during a worship service at 3 p.m. Sunday at 1918 Oakhaven Drive. The Rev. Lawrence Knighton, pastor of St. James Baptist Church, will be the speaker. Church pastor is C.U. Neal Sr.
