Shooting at Albany motel under investigation

ALBANY — The circumstances that led an 18-year-old woman to be injured in a shooting in East Albany on Saturday remained under investigationMonday.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said the incident was reported at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday at 911 E. Oglethorpe Blvd., the site of Regency Motel.

Banks said APD officers and paramedics from Dougherty EMS responded to 911 E. Oglethorpe Blvd., Room 212, in reference to a shooting incident. The victim, identified as Tachanna Styles, 18, was lying in the second-floor hallway, bleeding from a bullet wound to the left side of the head.

She was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment. A hospital spokeswoman said Monday that Styles had since been discharged.

The shooting remained under investigation Monday. Initial reports on the incident said there was no solid information on a suspect.
