Sometimes victory is in the battle itself

When I voted for Susan Smith for tax commissioner of Lee County, I had no idea I was voting for someone who was not only competent for the job, but also someone full of integrity and courage.
While our present commissioners are content to run with the “political pack,” Mrs. Smith has chosen to stand her ground and serve the taxpaying citizens who elected her. Unlike the commissioners who desire to place an unfair burden on property owners because they are not willing or able to do their own job.
We not only have procedures in place to collect unpaid fees, we also have an office set aside for this service. Why are they not demanding that these people do their job? Maybe it is because they are too busy patting themselves on the back for their “good job”!
Mrs. Smith, you are in good company, standing alone for what is right. David stood alone against Goliath. Elijah stood alone against the prophets of Baal. Samson stood alone when he killed 1,500 Philistines with the jawbone of an ass!
Hang in there, Susan. Fighting isn’t always about winning. Sometimes, it’s just about fighting.
