South Georgia Council hosts annual Scouting Winter Camp

LAKELAND — The South Georgia Council held its annual Winter Camp Dec. 27-30 at Camp Patten in Lanier County.

Scouts from Troop 3 of Albany, Troop 13 of Albany, Troop 210 of Leesburg, Troop 403 of Valdosta, Troop 410 of Valdosta, Troop 420 of Valdosta, Troop 454 of Valdosta, Troop 440 of Hahira, Troop 491 of Valdosta, Troop 864 of Lakeland, Troop 2020 of Valdosta, and Troop 2420 of Valdosta attended.

Senior District Executive John Alford and his volunteer staff assisted Scouts in worked on a variety of merit badges including American Heritage, Animation, Art, Astronomy, Canoeing, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the world, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, Fingerprinting, Fire Safety, First Aid, Game Design, Genealogy, Geocaching, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Rifle, Signs, Signals & Codes, Stamp Collecting, Traffic Safety and Weather.

South Georgia Council serves thousands of girls and boys through scouting in 28 south Georgia counties, including Atkinson, Baker, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks Calhoun, Clay, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Crisp, Dooly, Dougherty, Early, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lee, Lowndes, Mitchell, Miller, Schley, Sumter, Terrell, Tift, Turner, Wilcox and Worth.
