ATLANTA – In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which has brought unimaginable heartbreak and loss to communities in Georgia, the government of Taiwan is immediately reaching out with compassion and solidarity, donating $200,000 through Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta to support recovery efforts as these communities begin to heal and rebuild, officials with the Taiwan government announced.
“In times of crisis, it is not just financial support that matters — it is the bond of shared humanity,” Taiwan officials said. “Taiwan stands firmly with the people of Georgia, not only in words but in action. Our donation goes directly to the American Red Cross, supporting essential relief efforts on the ground.”
The Georgia State Assembly Taiwan Caucus co-chairs witnessed the making of this donation. The members from Taiwanese Compatriots Emergency Relief Association, Medical Association, local NGO “We Love Buford Highway” and Taiwanese community leaders also shared their experience of disaster relief and emergency assistance with the staffs from Red Cross.
“We extend our heartfelt respect and gratitude to these unsung heroes who are bringing comfort and hope to those most affected,” Taiwan officials said. “As a nation frequently affected by natural disasters like typhoons and earthquakes, Taiwan knows the deep sorrow that comes when people lose their loved ones, their homes, and their sense of security. The friendship between Taiwan and the United States has always been strong, built on mutual support and shared values.”
