Third Downtown Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt kicks off Monday in Albany
As the city of Albany’s Utilities Authority transitions to full automation for reading utility meters, some customers have seen estimated bills instead of an actual bill in recent billing cycles, many resulting in extremely high bills.

ALBANY — The Albany Downtown Manager’s office is asking the public to be on the lookout next week for giant, brightly-colored Easter eggs.
The third annual Downtown Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt begins on Monday and lasts through Saturday. Each day one of the eggs will be hidden downtown.
Partners who will help decorate and hide eggs include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany, Albany Fire Department, Albany Area YMCA, the city’s Recreation and Parks Department, Dougherty County and the Flint River Entertainment Complex.
The Downtown Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt will take place within the Central Business District boundaries. The purpose of the fun event is to encourage the public to explore the downtown Albany area, Albany officials said.
“Parents are encouraged to cheer the children on as they explore the downtown to find the oversized decorated eggs,” the Downtown Manager’s office said. “However, the scavenger hunt is coordinated for small children through 5th grade.
“After the Downtown Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt, please join us for lunch, on a shopping spree with your favorite downtown business, or take a visit to tour one of our unique event venues.”
Hints to help locate eggs will be available daily at https://www.facebook.com/visitdowntownalbany.
