ALBANY — Investigators with the Albany Police Department three teenagers in connection with an armed robbery that took place a convenience store on North Slappey Boulevard last week, officials said Monday.
Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said Donell Knight, 16; Shandon Ellis, 14, and Kenneth George Jr., 17, have been arrested and charged with armed robbery in connection to a robbery at Woodall’s convenience store, 1500 N. Slappey Blvd., around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Bankes said the trio were charged as adults. All three are being housed in the Dougherty County Jail rather than in the Regional Youth Detention Center, Banks said. Knight and Ellis were taken into custody Friday after being interviewed by detectives. Officials with the APD said late Monday afternoon that George had been taken into custody.
The initial reports said three victims, which included two clerks and a customer, told police that three gunmen — all wearing hoodies with their faces covered by bandanas — held them at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store.
