BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — It’s been an up and down kind of season for the Albany State Rams as interim men’s basketball coach Michael Moore navigated through his first year and the Rams learned to function as a cohesive unit.

Unfortunately for the Rams, their strange season came to an end Tuesday night in the first round of the SIAC Basketball Tournament as they fell to Tuskegee 80-63 at the Bill Harris Arena.

The season started out strangely enough as longtime coach Chris Cameron announced his resignation just a few days before the season started. That allowed Moore to take over.

But it ended in tough fashion Tuesday night.

It was a 38-36 game at the half in favor of Tuskegee and things started to slip away from ASU in the second half. They found themselves down nine with 16:45 left, then 14 with 7:33 left and from there, Tuskegee ran away with it much like they did earlier this season when they defeated the Rams 81-58.

Chris Wheeler’s 19 points led Albany State which had no other players in double-figure scoring.

The Rams finish the season 9-18 overall and 5-14 in the conference. ASU will lose five seniors from their roster.
