ALBANY — A 19-year-old was injured in a shooting reported early Sunday, officials from the Albany Police Department said.

The assault was reported to have taken place near the intersection of Newton Road and Dorsett Avenue. Three individuals, ranging from ages 17-19, said they were leaving the K&S Food Store at around 2 a.m. when a small light-colored sedan rode slowly past them. The vehicle was traveling east on Dorsett then stopped at the stop sign, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD.

The rear passenger side door opened and someone started shooting at them. Walter Butler, 19, was struck by a bullet in the left elbow. The victims ran to 1328 S. Van Buren St. where they called for the police and an ambulance, Banks said.

A spokeswoman at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital said Monday morning that Butler had been discharged.

No arrests were immediately made. The incident remains under investigation, Banks said.
