ALBANY — Albany shoppers will soon have another grocery destination to choose from as the new Walmart Neighborhood Market will begin welcoming customers next week.

The grocery store will officially open to the public Dec. 10 after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m.

Located at the corner of Gillionville Road and Westover Boulevard, the new, 41,000-squre-foot store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will carry a variety of grocery items, including fresh produce, meats and frozen foods. The store will also include a pharmacy with a drive-thru and a fuel station.

Additionally, according to a news release from the company, customers can shop for additional items, such as holiday today, gifts, electronics and home decor, on Walmart.com through Walmart pickup, which will offer free shipping to the Albany Walmart Neighborhood Market.

“This new Walmart Neighborhood Market not only provides approximately 95 jobs to the community but also brings a new grocery option just in time for the holidays,” said store manager Duane Staggers in a news release.

In addition to the Dec. 10 ribbon cutting the store will also be hosting a community welcoming celebration at the store on Dec. 13 from noon to 3 p.m. that will feature family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last.
